Sittin' here resting my bones And this loneliness won't leave me alone

"(Sittin on) The Dock of the Bay" was one of Otis Redding's last recordings. Decidedly different than his earlier music, it features a more easy listening pop feel. Certainly one of his biggest hits, it, like so many other songs from Mr. Redding has been covered many times by many artists.

Some say it is an incomplete masterpiece. The whistling heard at the end of the song was intended to be a place holder as Otis was planning to return to the studio and add another verse. The history of this melancholy song is made all the more so by knowing the songs background. Read the whole Wikipedia article for more information.

So for this Saturday we have something melancholy and beautiful on tap. Enjoy.
