Friday Pick six: Tommy Edwards

Friday, November 08, 2013

From 1951 to 1960 Tommy Edwards had several songs chart, starting with his first "hit" "The morning side of the mountain" in 1951 and ending with "I really don't want to know" in 1960. His most famous song was "It's all in the game". He first recorded it in 1951 but it was re-released in 1958 with a new arrangement and went to #1 in both the U.S. and U.K. markets.

Tommy died in 1969 at the age of 47. I don't know if many people remember him, but he had a lovely smooth sound and his gift is worth re-visiting after all these years. Here is a pick six on Tommy Edwards.

The Morning Side of the Mountain 1951

I really don't want to know 1960
It's All in the Game 1958 (his big hit)
That's All
Love is All We Need 1958
I've been there 1958
I included this as it's one of the few recordings of him. Here he is on the Dick Clark show.
