Friday Pick Six- 1965

Friday, October 18, 2013

In 1965 the Beatles were in the throes of their early rise to stardom, the Rolling Stones were on Ed Sullivan and I Dream of Jeannie premiered in prime time. In music, some were still holding on to the early 50's bop music and Brenda Lee,  Vic Dana and Patti Page all had hits in the top 50 for the year.

1965 was also the year that rock and roll music really took hold in the mainstream, and the sounds we heard on the radio would be forever changed. Sit back and enjoy some of the "new" sounds from 1965.

1. Sam and the Sham- Wooly Bully (was #1 on the Billboard for 1965)
2. Rolling Stones - I can't get no (Satisfaction)
3. The Byrds - Mr. Tambourine Man
4. James Brown- Papas got a brand new bag
5. Jr. Walker and the All Stars - Shotgun (Thanks SNL)
6. Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone
