Wednesday Flashback: Jimmy Webb songs

Wednesday, September 25, 2013
Not everything that came out in the 60's was a classic, but every once in awhile I'll remember one of these songs and they conjure up all kinds of memories for me of the time. Sometimes this was more in line with what my parents and their friends listened to- but the memories come all the same. Jimmy Webb was a songwriting machine in the 60's and had many of his songs hit the top of the charts. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Worst that Could Happen - Brooklyn Bridge

2. By the Time I get to Phoenix - Glen Campbell

3. Wichita Lineman - Glen Campbell

                                       4. MacArthur Park - I liked the Richard Harris version. And some others sang this, too. But my strongest memory is the disco version by Donna Summer.

Okay,  you can make fun of disco, but this woman could SING!
