Wednesday Flashback- 1969

Earlier I had suggested madpoet write about the music coming of age in the Vietnam era. He really doesn't remember it, at least not from first hand memories.

I was young, I only knew a few 'older boys' in our neighborhood who went to war. But I remember the music.

We all listened to ours blasting from a radio stuck in the window- up against the screen. Or put our stereo speakers in the window instead. I had an 8 track, I had long hair I tried to keep straight and put lemon in it to make it blonder. I wore blue eye shadow when I could get away with it and my parents didn't notice.

I remember reading a book that year called "We are the people your parents warned you against", about the Hippie movement in San Francisco. I was too young to be a part of it, but just old enough that I wished I could have been.

Whether you were too young to remember these or not- sit back and enjoy some sounds from 1969.

1. Get Together - The Youngbloods
2. Everyday people- Sly and the family Stone
3. Crystal Blue Persuasion -Tommy James and the Shondells
4. Grazing in the Grass- Friends of Distinction
5. Time of the Season - Zombies
