Eating In New Orleans Part 1 of ?

I know this isn't a food blog, but, as some of you know, I am a bit of a foodie. Here I am in a foodie paradise, so I have to share with you some of things I am eating

Criollo Restaurant is in the Hotel Monteleone where we are staying. We decided to eat here for dinner on our fist night in town. Specializing in locally sourced and seasonal cuisine, Diane and I decided it seemed like a nice place to start our New Orleans Cuisine adventure. The staff was very helpful in pointing out what Diane could have in light of her Celiacs issue.

They even brought her a special amuse bouche, since the nightly one was made with something like a pizza crust.

She had the Shrimp, Blue Crab & Avocado appetizer, while I went for the trio of Black Bay oysters. Both were very delicious, setting the table for some fine entrees. Diane had the Perdido Pass Snapper with a crab, orange & fennel slaw. I found it to be quite good with the slaw being a standout.
I had the Swordfish with a saffron risotto. My swordfish was a bit overcooked, but it was good nonetheless.

 All in all, our first meal in New Orleans was pretty good. Hopefully we will have more good food to share with you soon.
