Our Wedding Photo May 1, 1982, Fullerton, CA.

Our first anniversary: May 1 1983

I will admit there are times when I don't even 'feel' 30. I certainly don't feel like I've been married that long.

But 30 years ago today, at 11 a.m., I married my best friend and truly the love of my life.

We always loved music. At our wedding we both chose a song and I picked a typical romantic sappy song called "I'll never say goodbye" and Jay chose the uber-cool and still favorite- "Just the Way you Are" by Billy Joel. That is probably as close as we could come to 'our song'.

The years have been plentiful. Good times. Rough times. Great kids. Incredible moments. Many more of those than not. The building of our family - the goodbyes we said to some of ours. There are so many songs through the years I can think of that might represent what this last 30 years has meant- what he has meant.

I love Adele's version of "To Feel my Love", Shania Twain's "You're Still the One" and "You've got a way"... Rush's "Entre Nous"...

We are secrets to each other
Each one's life a novel
No-one else has read.
Even joined in bonds of love,
We're linked to one another
By such slender threads.

None of them really capture all the things I feel as I wake up next to him on our 30th.
We are going to celebrate this on our cruise to Alaska in June, and we'll renew our vows to each other then. Just us- (well and our friends coming with us) - but in that moment, in so many moments - it's really just us.

Happy Anniversary.
