Friday Pick Six EKG's Top Six iTunes Most Played

Friday, September 02, 2011

You know, I think a person's most played list says a lot about them. Sure, the iTunes top 25 auto-list isn't entirely accurate. After all, it doesn't take into account the number of times I've listened to a song in the car, or on my iPod, on the radio, and so on. Also, this would only be specifically what I've listened to on my computer in the past two and a half years. That being said, I do spend A LOT of time on my computer, so this is still very telling. And what does it tell? That for all my talk, I'm kinda emo AND hipster (though the emos became hipsters, so that makes sense). Admitting it is the first step, right? Enjoy!

NOTE: For listmaking purposes, there are no repeat bands, so I only took the first song that came up from a band and skipped the rest from that band to get six. This is important because, in the case of the band Fun, I listened to their album over 100 times, so the entire thing (all 12 songs) is on my top 25. I'll list the actual place of some of the songs that were actually lower on the list.

1: Runaway World, by Making April (232 listens!)
2: All the Pretty Girls, by Fun (178 listens)
3: Crimson Red, by Holiday Parade (163 listens)
4: Sing, by My Chemical romance (131 listens, actually 6th)
5: Code Monkey, by Jonathan Coulton (117 listens, actually 11th)
6: The Last Something That Meant Anything, by Mayday Parade (112 listens, actually 13th)

Videos after the jump.

Runaway World (just the song, and acoustic)

All the Pretty Girls (the painfully hipster video... but it is a good song!)

Crimson Red... apparently this band is SO indie that not even an audio track has been put on YouTube. Sorry 'bout that.

Sing (the good ol' music video, now shared on this site for the third time)

Code Monkey (fan made music video made in WoW... and actually pretty impressive)

Overly Long Title Song, also known as my breakup song (just the song)
