No Hype... Just A Soulful Voice

Tuesday, July 12, 2011
The 'wisdom' of music writers never ceases to amaze me. Noting that Adele, Lady Gaga and Beyonce rule the pop world right now, Sasha Frere-Jones of the New Yorker made the comment regarding Adele:
Adele’s impeccably sung collection of unperturbing soul, “21,” released in February, will almost certainly be the year’s biggest-selling album. Her career is likely to be long, because she is selling to the demographic that decides American elections: middle-aged moms who don’t know how to pirate music and will drive to Starbucks when they need to buy it.
Excuse me? I am a forty something male who enjoys Adele because she is not an overproduced, overhyped piece of pop fluff. She is a very fine, soulful singer with a voice that gives me chills. Lady Gaga and Beyonce... not so much.

Oh, and by the way... I almost never buy music at Starbucks

Note: I know this like the fourth Adele post we have had, but I really really like Adele.
