RIP Clarence Clemons AKA The Big Man

Sunday, June 19, 2011
Clarence Clemons passed away on Saturday at a hospital in Palm Beach, Fla. He was 69. I was lucky enough to see the Bruce & The E Street Band twice in my life. Clarence's saxophone brought soul to the mighty E Street Band, but never more so then the sax solo at the start of The River from the 2002 tour. This version always kills me. Clarence's melancholy sax solo at the beginning is truly great as was all of his work.
We will miss you Big Man, forever and always. In Bruces words fron the front page of BruceSpringsteen.net
He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band.
One more from the Boss and The Big Man:
