Supposed to be New Music Tuesday

Tuesday, February 08, 2011
This isn't really new. It came out last year, but my current flirtation with the new alt folk has turned me on to some of the Alt Country groups and singers. Last year Kurt Wagner of Lambchop teamed up Cortney Tidwell to release Invariable Heartache. This is everything I love about this music. It is truly a throwback to Hank, Patsy and the great country music of the fifties and sixties. Check them out. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Update: I know I have been accused of hating country music. This is not true. I just don't like much of the current pop country being churned out in Nashville. It has become as monolithic a sound as most of the corporate rock of the seventies and the hair metal of the eighties. Give me Cash, Patsy, Waylon, Willie any day. I will take pass on countries flavor of the week scene

Of course we can't talk about Alt Country without some Uncle Tupelo
