Enter Robin Walker, which I adore, not so much for uke playing (which is awesome) but for her breathy almost childlike singing voice. Her new drop Oma Minor is really, really good. WhereIWentWrong, the opener on the album features a verse that sums up her lyrical abilities:
an empty chair where you used to sitHave a listen
a blank stare where the fire was lit
Four Hours has the feel of The Mamas & the Papas meet Au Revoir Simone, is also a standout.
The short Trail of Dust is a 21st century trail song, evoking all the loneliness and wonder that is a wanderers life.
There is no shortage of girls with ukeleles out there right now, but Robin Walker is clearly moving to the head of the class.
1.) To quote Office Space: Michael, I did nothing. I did absolutely nothing, and it was everything that I thought it could be.
