Alabama Governor Robert Bentley to Non Christians - You Ain't My Brother

Wednesday, January 19, 2011
I can't find the snark for this one. I can't believe he said it. In a church where Dr. King was once the pastor. So much for judging someone by the content of their character.
"So anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother."
See the thing is Governor, I don't want to be your brother. If you were, your religious beliefs would have nothing to do with my acceptance. I like how you said later 'We're not trying to insult anybody.' How helpful of you. I know I wasn't offended, but lucky for me, I don't live in your state.

Suppose I was the new governor and was, lets say, Muslim and I said 'If you haven't accepted Allah, then you are not my brother or sister'. You wouldn't be insulted? Really?

Hell, Christians like you make a living off of self righteous outrage and perceived slights from even the simplest comment. You know why I ain't your brother? Because my mother had the good sense not procreate with someone like your dad.

Hat tip to Talking Points Memo.
