Random Musings - A moment of reflection

Friday, March 12, 2010
I was reviewing some past posts1 and I ran across the following paragraph I had written:
Answers are never shouted from the rooftops, from the pulpit or the lectern. They are quiet whispers on the edge of thought, on the tip of your tongue.

This seems a bit incongruous considering my recent emotional state. I guess my point is that we all want answers, but they never come when we are actively seeking them.

When you are stuck in an emotional maelstrom, it is very difficult to hear the answers. I was writing a poem2 this morning that kind of summed that up, but Cowboy wrote something that gives a better perspective than I could ever hope to write. All I can say is, Simon, your poem "Oh Friendly Hill" is great. Thank you.

I also want to give a shout out to a fellow Plurker and her poetry, Blue Bunny. She has another blog here..

1. Is that vain? I think it might be, but I might be getting down on myself.
2. I may post the poem I was working on late, but it seems kind of... inferior to the majestic work from Cowboy. I mean that in the most sincere and self deprecating way.

I remember that same line jumping out at me from one of your past posts. Answers are funny things, sliding in at funny moments, sometimes just a matter of a small side step in thinking. Sometimes they can be coaxed, sometimes cajoled, almost never beadgered, and indeed rarely when wanted or as quickly as desperately needed.

Thank you for the shout out, you're very sweet to include a link to my meanderings :)

  2. J what do I say?

I am humbled by your esteem of my offerings. Rereading your old musings is in no way vanity. I frequently "shelve" items and then go back later to re-value to check that they convey something I deem as valid and are not over indulgent.

Please write for yourself J. I will be mortified if I cramp your style. I always look forward to the musings of my fellow musketeer the madpoet.
